Dublin’s Recycling Champion Kicks Off!

Today marks the kick off of not only Ireland’s first match of Euro 2016 #coybig, but also our 3rd annual Recycling Champion Competition!

Did you know that more than 99{274956ee188766cffa9fd13544fc92af19ef135eba77b9fbaa514036943a2328} of all waste in Sweden is recycled? In 2012, over 2 million tonnes of household waste was converted into energy for homes and businesses across Sweden.*

Fingers crossed our lads can hold their own against Sweden tonight! As a country, we’ve still a way to go before we can match their recycling stats!

Following on from the success of last year’s competition, 38 households, each representing their local area, are currently competing to see who can legitimately move the most material from their black waste bin into their green recycling and brown composting bins.

The competition runs from today until 11th July.

The two top recyclers will have their bins monitored for an additional two weeks after the closing date and the overall winner will then be presented with a cheque for €1,000!

The objective of the Recycling Champion is even more important this year, with the Government’s new Pay By Weight pricing being introduced on the 1st of July. We really want to highlight how customers can save money simply by being more aware of what goes in each bin.

We’ll be posting regular updates over the next few weeks so watch this space!
