Greyhound Household, the country’s largest domestic waste company , has called on people to make a special effort to use their brown bins for 2018. Greyhound says almost 95{274956ee188766cffa9fd13544fc92af19ef135eba77b9fbaa514036943a2328} of people don’t utilise their brown bin while more than 40{274956ee188766cffa9fd13544fc92af19ef135eba77b9fbaa514036943a2328} don’t us it at all.

Greyhound’s Group Managing Director, John Brosnan said:

“We are encouraging householders to place this extra waste in their brown bins. Greater use of brown bins will save households money on collection fees; cuts down on bin contamination and helps the environment.”

The company has launched a competition in January 2018 to encourage people to segregate their waste and maximise the use of the brown bin (organic/compost). Householders who use their brown bins for food and other compostible waste will automatically enter a weekly draw for a €100 voucher.
