A Landmark Day for Irish Recycling and Regional Investment
We were delighted to welcome Shane Moynihan TD to our brand-new Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) — a €25 million investment that marks a major milestone in Ireland’s transition toward a more sustainable and circular economy.
The visit highlighted the national importance of this facility, not just for our industry, but for the environment, the economy, and our local community.
What Is a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF)?
A Materials Recovery Facility is where recyclable materials are sorted, cleaned, and prepared for reuse. Our new MRF is designed with cutting-edge automation and AI-powered sorting technology, allowing us to process greater volumes more efficiently and with higher purity levels.
This is essential in helping Ireland increase recycling rates and reduce waste to landfill — two major goals under the EU Waste Framework Directive and Ireland’s Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy.
Key Impacts of the €25 Million Investment
- ✅ €25 million investment in green infrastructure
- ✅ 40 new local jobs created in high-tech, sustainable industries
- ✅ Capacity to process thousands of tonnes of recyclable materials annually
- ✅ Direct contribution to Ireland’s EU recycling targets
- ✅ Support for a circular economy and local supply chains
Political Support for Sustainable Innovation
Shane Moynihan TD’s visit underscored the strong support from policymakers for initiatives that align with both climate goals and regional development. Deputy Moynihan met with our CEO Neill Ryan to discuss how public and private sectors can work together to accelerate Ireland’s green transition.
“This MRF is a cutting edge example of innovation in green technology, which enables higher recovery from recycling and is central to achieving a circular economy.” said Deputy Moynihan during the tour.
Aligning With National and EU Environmental Goals
Ireland faces ambitious targets under the European Green Deal, and facilities like ours are essential in helping the country:
- Meet its recycling rate goals
- Improve waste infrastructure resilience
- Reduce dependency on waste exports
- Create a green skills workforce for the future
Looking Ahead: Innovation and Responsibility
This MRF is just one part of our broader strategy to lead in sustainable waste management, and we’re proud to be setting new standards for the industry.
By investing in technology, talent, and long-term thinking, we’re not just managing waste — we’re creating value for the environment, the economy, and future generations.
