Malcolm Byrne TD Visits Advanced MRF in Support of Green Innovation and AI in Waste Management

We were proud to welcome Malcolm Byrne TD, Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Spokesperson on Climate, Environment and Energy, to tour our state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Dublin.

The visit highlighted the intersection of AI innovation, climate action, and green job creation — three key pillars in Ireland’s drive toward a circular economy.

Our MRF represents a €25 million investment in Ireland’s green infrastructure and plays a crucial role in achieving national and EU recycling targets. This facility:

  • ✅ Uses AI-powered optical sorters to separate waste
  • ✅ Processes thousands of tonnes of recyclable materials annually
  • ✅ Supports 40 new jobs in the local economy
  • ✅ Reduces reliance on landfill and export
  • ✅ Positions Ireland as a leader in smart, sustainable waste systems

During the tour, Malcolm Byrne met with CEO Neill Ryan and our technical team to explore how machine learning, real-time data, and sensors are transforming the waste sector.

His visit reinforces growing national interest in AI applications for environmental sustainability, particularly in waste reduction, emissions monitoring, and predictive systems.
