New Commercial Waste Regulations in Dublin: What You Need to Know

If you’re running a business in Dublin City Centre, there’s an important update you should know about: new rules mean that some streets in the heart of Dublin will no longer allow commercial waste to be collected in plastic bags. Instead, businesses will need to use bins for their waste collection.

This change, introduced by Dublin City Council, aims to tidy up the city’s bustling streets, reduce litter, and address the rising issues around pests. From January 2024, this bin-only rule will be in full effect, impacting several key areas in Dublin 1 and Dublin 2, including parts of Temple Bar, Dame Street, and Capel Street.

Why the Change to commercial waste?

If you’ve ever strolled through the city early in the morning or late at night, you’ll know that piles of waste bags can be a common sight. Unfortunately, these bags are vulnerable to being torn by seagulls or rodents, leading to unsightly and unhygienic streets.
